Look close now at every place rust usually starts on these, and fix any worn paint or dried-missing undercoat. Say, where frame rails spot weld to underside of front floor pans, clean out dirt and paint or re-undercoat that seam.
Also, the lips on the fenders need close attention, especially on non-SPG models. If they've been off during any repainting, moreso, as they rarely get put back with the sealing wax. They should be sealed to the exterior body work, and also to the undercoated inner wheel well, with a sticky wax, to keep water from getting in them and then wicking between inner and outer fender lips where the rot really gets going. Someone on here recommends toilet bowl wax sealing rings as a source for a similar wax. When they're old those pieces of fender trim are really brittle so be careful, new ones aren't cheap.
On SPGs the wheel well trim doesn't fit so close but look out for the clamping points as starting points for rust, and paint and seal them.
Also look at bottoms of doors, not just at the very bottom edge where water drips to and hangs, but under that riveted-on bottom sealing lip and also up under the bottom edge of the door weather strip. If paint is chafed and worn thru anywhere weather strip contacts that can be a rust point.
Also the gas filler door, on its interior - - here in the rust belt it starts rusting where edge of outer skin wraps around the frame, then creeps onto outer face. I'd add more paint where you won't see it, put on with a brush.
Also on the bottom edges of hood, where inner frame and outer skin are lapped and spot welded. The back foot or so especially - - Touch that seam up with paint, using a brush with a close match of good grade enamel.
Really, look over any local rust bucket Saabs and treat any of their bad places on your new baby.
Keep it waxed.
