Greetings from a SAAB noob! I stumbled on this board a while back and have been gleaning a great deal of helpful information. Many thanks all around. I have some, rather disjointed questions, most I am sure are basic info..

'94 900 Turbo Vert

1. Alarm System - Hypothetical situation, the alarm is armed, and the alarm fob is run over by a steam roller. How does one disarm the alarm? I know simply unlocking the door wont do it. Ive only one alarm fob (not in the best of shape), and its a bit of a concern.

2. AC/Air system - Distribution dial positions. There are two positions for floor and two for dash vents. I assume one on each is "max AC"?

3. Air recirc button - Should this close the fresh air flap on any setting for the air flow? The flap on mine closes on my assumed "Max AC" position, but at no other time. i.e. the recirc button does not seem to be working.

4. Headlight adjustment screws - The inside upper screw on the right side is stripped..the plastic threads are gone. Is there any way to replace this screw only. I have one from an 88 vert, but the plastic was so brittle getting it out pretty much finished off the already damaged headlight assembly.

'88 Turbo Vert auto trans :( (parts car from which I appropriated a new top for my 94)

1. Seat bolt pattern - is it the same/similar to a 1996 NG900?

2. Engine - The engine on this failed the smog test....miserably. But only for NO. %CO2=14, %O2=1.0, HC=13ppm, %CO=0, NO=2085! Max allowed for NO is 730. A new cat was put on it, from what it looks like. Other than that I know nothing about what, if anything was done. Is there any "red flag" or possible single point of failure which would cause this? I have not attempted to start it, so I know know what it sounds like, idles like, etc.

3. How different, if at all would the engine on an 88 be compared to a 94? Just the block. Im thinking about removing the engine from the 88 to rebuild, and then replace on mine. Compression/Bore/Stroke, sensor differences, etc. The details are not necessary, just curious if the difference are enough to preclude a swap.

Any information is appreciated.
