there was a significant oil loss Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: the others are going to have to hold it, SWEDECAR ![]() ![]() |
but after the change of the flange inner seal it slowed the oil loss to nothing, granted i have not taken the car on a long trip yet to find out,
but the miles i have drove the rear cover remained dry.
up untill i noticed a small line running down from the stud,
or oozing down. it wasn't much in quantity at all perhaps it would leave a drip or two in every parking place.
but in trying to tighten the nut.... well its beyond me.
perhaps ill have another go at it in time to come.
but then with such small amount of oil seeping, it may very well be motor oil that broke through the gasket and i would never know.
for all the fluid that was leaking under there it was a mess, then with the exhaust burning it all kinda made the car look as if it was over heating.
its just with everything now tightened and plugged no more fluid is escaping except at the stud area.
im taking the car tomorrow on a another excursion which will for sure tell me what going on in the area of fluid loss.
but as for now ill have to live with the nut snugged up. :)
thanks for everyone's help.
just a note:
in questioning if the nut comes loose on its own, and now knowing it doesnt,.. well.. i guess i can look at it as,
(their just trying to keep their doors open)
not going to accuse anyone of foul play just because of how very convenient it is to drop the car and pick it up at the end of the day,
and then again it could have very well loosened on its own,.. in which i would be totally in the wrong for even thinking of foul play.
but thanks in letting me know the odds stack greatly against the nut loosening by itself. (and with the two loose bolts found, im forced to think the same)
untill the next problem arises ( thanks to all )
