It's time for another good idea/bad idea Posted by Saana88 [Email] (#207) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saana88) on Wed, 12 Dec 2007 14:11:49 In Reply to: anti-sieze on wheel bolts - is this a bad idea?, jeremiah, Wed, 12 Dec 2007 10:12:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A thin to moderate coating on the lugs will do wonders for your wheels and wrenches. Welcome to Saltville, population us.
I agree with your excuse to use a torque wrench. Don't tell Dad, but he's getting one for Christmas this year. No more bending over in the dark to read the deflecting beam with extensions!
If you accidentally use too much, it's pretty easy to scrape the gobs off of the wheel seating surface, or in your case, the wheel lug bolt seats.
Where in NY are you, and where are all these C900 owners coming from? I saw my *sixth* unique C900 car in two months on the way home today. (Two of the six are mine...)
I hurt my back this summer. I push on the torque wrench, but my fingers are away from the end of the handle far enough that the handle will impact the ground, not my fingers. Keep your face (and teeth) away from the sheet metal. However, since I have anti-sieze on the lugs, I never have to worry about it.
aalto- you can replace your lug bolts for around $25- maybe a 200k present?
