ok, well a regular compression tester will have to do- Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: well, essentially it is a pressurize and wait test-, DanF, Thu, 3 Jan 2008 10:26:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
you will just have to be very 'tight' on your judgement of any observed differences. you know, on an older engine that has wear (unlike your situation), we all are flexible about exactly how close the results need to be. you, on the other hand, are looking for ANY differences. so, try to be 'religious' about the test. put sprocket on, rotate engine couple of times and recheck timing. then, start each cylinder test from the tdc point (with both valves closed), and do a 3 turn test, with someone giving you a second opinion of the the 3 steps that the needle takes(all this with throttle plate open). maybe do the test 3 times for each cylinder to be sure of what you saw.
if you see no differences between them, then you are fine.
this type of compression test is less accurate than a leak down, or differential test, so you must 'magnify' any dicrepancies-especially as you have new rings, and a valve job.
good luck-remember, a sientific, methodical approach is required...
