Loosening the MC flare nut inside engine

Hello,
When facing the Master Cylinder from inside the engine do I turn the attached flare nut to the left?
Or, when facing the radiator to I turn the flare nut on the hydrolic metal pipe left to loosen?
I read someone suggested tapping it with a hammer is that correct? But I still need to know which way to tap.
I have been using a crows flare wrench 13mm in the tight space working on removing the old MC. Maybe I need to move something out of the way?
Thanks in advance,
Nanette
