Thanks for all the info. I'm still somewhat new to this, but I'm pretty sure it's the ECU. It says Bosch Jetronic on the front. On the 84 it's under the rear seat on the passenger side. Like you said, the later models have it up on the wall. Now I see why- to keep it from getting wet if there's a leak. Mine looks like it sat in an inch of standing water for a couple months!
I don't know the history of this car, I traded some camping gear and $100 for it. I'm hoping the ECU is the lion's share of the issue with the bogging, hesitation and lack of power.
I checked the APC today and the APC pressure sensor (under the dash) and they checked out good. How do I check to see if the waste gate on the turbo is ok? thanks for the help.
