I agree that original "black" bolts look much cooler but if the manual says that this bolt (nut, screw, whatever) should be used only one time and be replaced if unbolted - it should be replaced without any questions.
Threading gets worn. Especially when using self-locking nuts. And twice especially when you overtighten the joint. M8 or even M10 bolts made of common 8.8 steel should hold those 30-40 lt-fb without any problems. If you're not sure with bolts that come with your new ball-joints - just order good bolts separately and have them hidden somewhere on the shelf on your garage.
And once again (to get your legs finally pulled out): go into torque wrenching! If you agreed to maintain your Saab on your own you'd remember that it's born of (or from, whatever) jets so it's supposed that you use aviation- and space-industry rules of operation that are based on using torque wrenches and following manuals! Be a real saaber!
