The Good:
It was a cinch for me to pour the dot 4 down the PVC hose.
Putting a latex glove finger over the PVS hose worked very well for me. I stretch down the glove a little and poked at it twice to create an air hole. Covering the work area in old tees helped with me worry less about getting brake fluid on car paint.
With the head cold medicine I almost fainted by the time I was done. I would liken it to being easier then blowing up balloons for a kid's birthday party.
The new ATE super racing blue dot 4 went up into the bleeder nipple and leaked out the opened flarenut just like it was suppose too. At first old brown came out the a greenish color then bright clear blue. I closed up the flarenut screw by hand.
Fresh latex, I blew again and watched air bubbles come out of the little reservoir side pocket. I kept at it until no more bubbles.
I closed up the bleeder nipple screw by hand. I went to bed feeling accomplished, eager to try the clutch.
I woke up this morning and checked the papertowel under the bleeder nipple I had placed, it looked slightly dampened. I looked at the flarenut and rubber hose and no leaks there.
The bad:
I pumped the clutch twice slowly. It has been so long I have forgotten how it was suppose to feel, I think I was expecting more resistence. Upon second pump, I heard a leak. The rubber hose attached to the MC was leaking. I saw air bubbles in the mini side pocket reservoir and had drained. The end of clutch MC rubber hose looks soaked And I have now placed a cup to catch any leaks under neath it.
I imagine that was air going in, and not out, otherwise, bleeding would be pie, right?
The ugly:
After I post this message, I am going to tighten the metal clamp with a screwdriver from the installed position, if there is room otherwise I will have to pull the new MC out. And tighten it with the hopes of not breaking the little plastic node off the MC.
And if all goes well, back bleed again until I see no more air bubbles out the reservoir like yesterday. Then if no leaks, Reattach the 2 turbo hoses, reattach battery and start car, try clutch.
I have a lot of dot 4 under my car which leaked from yesterday, the bleeder nipple while I was blowing was likely too loose. I have paper cups under the engine now to catch any possible leaks.
How loose do I want that bleeder nipple when back bleeding? Mine was apparently barely on. I think I can answer this question myself.
ANSWER: Tight enough so that there is no leaking under the engine. lol
QUESTION:
What determines if we will need to bleed the whole brake system? How do you know? I might have inadvertently drained my reservoir at some point in time.
