ABS, When teaching my wife to stay on the pedal when the system is working properly, really built her confidence up when driving on slippery roads. It so nice to stop straight or not spin-out when entering a curve with icy surfaces while braking. There are people that let off the pedal when the pedal starts pumping which can confuse the ABS and lead to spin-out. When the accumulator only has enough reserve for a few pumps, the system returns to basic breaking. Even tough the one in my 92/900 works, I'm changing accumulator so the system has more reserve pressure to deal with multiple changes in wheel spin. With your pump, you might have plugged the voltage into the motor with reversed polarity. Try jumping the motor again and give the housing a slight whack to see if the motor jambed.
