so if you ever have to remove a drive shaft again (while car is on the ground break the 32mm drive shaft nut), or the engine for that matter, block the upper A arm per Bentley or do a search on that topic, and then unbolt the UPPER ball joint and yank out and towards the rear of the car. no need to unbolt the tie rod end, no need to unbolt the lower, of course if you are changing either of these that's different. if the drive shaft won't come out of the splined hub, spray with Justin's fav PB Blaster - works well especially if you can give it some time, get to this point on this side then go to the other, then come back - you can use either a block of hard wood, a scrap of pressure treated 2x4 is great (often greenish with rows of cuts in them), and put that against the end of the CV joint with the NUT OFF!!! and hit with a hammer until it gives up. Don't use the nut as it will hurt the threads of either the nut or the CV joint or both. CV joint ==$'s Be very careful with the tripod joint, a hard bump and all of the needle bearings come out, $45 for a new tripod bearing! I am so cautious of the tripod bearing that I remove the CV joint to do the boot at the tripod end.
