I know the 16 valve engine is an interference engine so I assume it is toasty but is valve and other damage inevitable with this engine and how bad? The car is a '91 2.1 liter. Chain broke while barley moving (had just backed out of parking spot and had just gone about 10 to 20 feet in 1st when it went).

I am in no position time, experience, or patience wise to do this sort of job. Thus, my head tells me it is over and I have to let it go but in my heart I don't want to see this car go. I love this car and it hasn't even hit 135,000 yet, has strong transmission, and for this part of the country at least is still in good shape for age although rust has begun to show over last couple years.

Any chance it is even possibly feasible to have this car resurrected with paid labor? I assume I am better off taking the money and maybe some day finding a prime turbo for collector sake if I really want a c900 but I am just kicking myself. Looking at it, sitting in it, and taking some pictures this weekend just bummed me out and has me kicking myself a little for not paying more attention to any new sounds; one good reason to keep the radio off more often.

So chain, guides, and at least some valves I guess are inevitable? What else would one need or want to do when doing this sort of thing? Is it reasonable to expect the pistons would be OK given the situation?

Sounds like an easy $3000 plus just to do the most basic that one would expect. Is that realistic? Would that be crazy to put that in this car given it is a non-turbo and not 100% prime? Any chance of getting off cheaper?
