Leave your ego in the tool box, Landplane! Try supporting this site with a paid membership. You'll get some nice sticker and a shirt to wear. Ursaw asked what would be the cost effective repair. I never presented him with the ideal of getting a used turbo replacement engine. I, myself wouldn't use a roll in chain but, their available. Valves are fairly easy to replace.I have never seen an engine, whether timing belt or chain, that broke and never bent a valve. Non-turbo's are still nice Saab's. Ursaw wanted to know what would be the cheapest way to go. Very brazen remark for someone taking a chance driving their two Saabs with stretch chains. I guess you just want to crash your valves and cause greater, more costly damage. Ursaw posting just might be the clue to change your chains. I never had a car that I couldn't get over 3k before I decided to sell it or give to someone in need. I try answering most postings with the information provided. I'm still looking for a supplier of Saab muffler bearings. But really, say what you want, this is the beauty of this site. Who next with a question, please!
