Not the coupler, maybe boost pipe Posted by Cmyles [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Read your old posts, David Tibbetts, Wed, 19 May 2010 13:15:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
David,
You may have a problem with the shift coupler, but that's not what is keeping the car from driving. No defect or maladjustment of the coupler could cause the car to do what you are describing. Your description makes it sound like the engine tries to die because the transaxle is locked up BUT could it be that the engine has a problem and lacks the power to move the car (and the transaxle is fine). Something we see a lot is the engine induction plumbing blowing apart under boost due to a loose clamp (is this a turbocharged 900?). When that happens there is usually a loud "Whoosh" (sound familiar?) and then no power and the car won't move when put in gear. With the induction system open the air mass meter tells the injection brain that there is no airflow so don't feed any fuel. I'd suggest that you inspect all of the air induction plumbing. It's usually pretty obvious when when this happens and a very cheap and easy fix.
