93 900S, recently subjected to an auto -> manual swap. Against all odds (but with the help of folks on this board) I 'gotter done'. On test drive I noticed (not that it was hard) a rumbling from the front end-- any crack or bump in the road caused the noise. Upon inspection I found that the tie rod ends were shot (wiggling the wheel/spindle back and forth faithfully reproduced the sound. Ordered new ends from Eeuro and installed them today.

I took careful note of the stop-bolt position, unscrewed the old ends and replaced with new ones. The threading wasn't exactly the same and so I had to move the stop-bolt a turn or two on both sides to allow the end to orient with tapered bolt pointing down. Driver's side went fine and thought the pass. side was too until I put the wheels back on and removed the jack stands. DS wheel is straight ahed, PS wheel points ~20 degrees rightward.

I "aligned" the DS wheel by eye to straight ahead and then went at the PS-- removed the wheel, disconnected the tie rod end, and turned it out until the hub looked true. It took a surprising number of turns to do so-- at least 10 (1 - 1 1/2 " total travel). Reattached the wheel, eyed it, and then repeated to bring it out another turn or two to get the wheel "straight".

The car drives just fine but I have two issues: first, the steering wheel is cocked 90 degrees out of true going straight ahead; 2nd, I worry that there's not a whole lot of threads holding that PS tie rod end in place.

Where do I start to remedy this situation? I'd prefer to keep this "in house" but will take it to an alignment shop if nec (the last time I did so it was clear that the techs had no idea how to align a Saab).

TIA, Scott
