Whitesaab,
I thank you for your reply. Since you asked questions, I shall reply:
Well, I am a guy who is passionate about automobiles. I tried to get a life, yet I see nothing in the average man's life that is so great-thus my enjoyment comes from good peaceful life, and yes-automobiles. Women are nice too, yet I do reap more enjoyment in old cars.
"They" are a certain group of people that drove 96s, 99s, 900s for certain reasons, beyond transportation. A true 900 person stays with a 900. I've watch some people get lost, leave a 900 and then come back seeking to quench their thirst again. For example, two of my friends declared "no more 900s" and drove later model Saabs, and other makes. Guess what happened- yes that is correct. The itch was so bad with one friend, that he couldn't stop calling me with praises of his newly purchased SPG a few months ago. He called for several days in fact- with: "There is something about this car- it is beautiful- the lines" The aforementioned friend drove 900s from 1987 to 1999 returned two years in the early 2000s, then drove numerous Aeros/and numerous cars from Japan.
You see, WhiteSaab, there was a time when manufacturers produce cars on rigid principles, in addition to producing profit. It was a time, when a Saab was Saab, Volvo was Volvo, Porsche was Porsche, Benz was a benz, Jaguar was Jaguar: etc All of this faded, in the eighties- partly from the Japanese manufacturers' excellent marketing, and cloning.
Personally, I adore originality and creativeness-hence the respect for Saab, and many other older examples of other makes. A car like a Jaguar was luxury from day one. Take for example all of the retro(s) for the last ten years. What does that indicate? It indicate pure marketing. Why would a manufacture go back and mimic old designs?
It is no accident why Saab offered a five door Ng model in 1994, on hopes of selling to the followers who were requesting five door C900s for years.
One fact, unless a person is interests lies into mad performance modifications, is that todays "marketing vacuum" does not have suction with 900 purists.
