Yes, there were many reinforcements, but they are all internal to the chassis. No extra panels or stiffeners show on the exterior, nor do they alter the dimensions between a 2-door sedan and the CV.
And believe me, that top mechanism will NOT support the weight of the inverted car. The windshield surround and A pillars were made stronger so they should support the inverted front of the car, but the back end is resting on the trunklid.
Putting Aero skirts on a 2-door sedan will have the same issues as putting them on the CV.
