Thanks Nick, yet I do have the horizontal one, and I did tighten it when I installed the tranny. You mentioned slipped, yet how can it slip if there the two bolts are still there? I did a brief check a few months ago.
Is there a second rubber coupler, or is it only the horizontal or the barrel shaped, rubber?
While under the car, it seemed the coupler was very close to the steering rack, almost like hitting, I wondered if a worn passenger side motor mount is the reason- yet was not sure. I replaced the front motor mount, and surely thought this was the reason. After I replaced the front mount, it went into first, then second, and shortly thereafter, I could not get into first or second anymore. As I think of this, the stick does seem wobbly over bumps too
I am so excited about fixing this, that I will slide underneath the car tomorrow-despite the cold.
