1. From the 91 900 owner's manual:
"Valet mode.
The valet mode permits the owner to temporarily disable the system so that it cannot be armed either by the by the remote control transmitter or by the passive feature. This is particularly helpful when working on or washing the car, or when the car is to be parked by an attendant.
The valet mode is activated by using the push button valet switch located under the right front passenger seat on the Convertible. To place the system in the valet mode it must first be in the disarmed condition. Depress and hold the valet switch for one second. The LED will flash once and the alarm system is deactivated.
NOTE:!
When the alarm system is in the the valet mode the LED will flash once each time a door is opened or the ignition is shut off as a reminder that the alarm cannot be activated.
To exit from the valet mode, depress and hold the valet switch for one second. The LED will flash twice indicating that the system is now ready for normal use."
2. When the cable sleeve breaks the cable becomes disengaged on one end or the other not allowing the seat back to move. Replacing or repairing the cable sleeves allows the cable to be held firmly at the motor and the gearbox.
3. I personally save all those parts in anticipation of needing them some day. Recently I have needed to replace the small cables on the bottom of the seat backs where they attach to the seat bottoms. I fabricated replacement cables because I didn't have any good spares.
