there is a voltage chart in the bentley... but 12V is too low (even with the car turned off you want something closer to 12.8V iirc). I would charge and then load test the battery to make sure that is good. but your symptoms suggest a charging problem. definitely check the condition of all wires - any could be suspect! but it sounds like your ground came loose, which would definitely cause you grief... if that is all it was, it should be an easy solution! good luck!
