I apologize if I was not clear in my initial post(s) but lest any others be confused please let me clarify. Snowmobile-- ground wire is intact. I may have written that "g/w" wire was disconnected but I was referring to the green/white spade connector that had come off of the D+ post. Simon-- You state categorically that "The lack of a warning lamp indicator can not cause your alternator to not-charge, it just takes longer to come online..." and I think that is incorrect: my understanding is that a functioning indicator bulb of the proper voltage is absolutely required in the circuit to enable charging.

I'm actually intrigued by the fact that my ABS indicator light came on shortly before the battery lost cranking power (although there was sufficient charge to keep the motor running. I wonder, is it possible that I have (another) errant connection such that charging fault condition activates the wrong light?
