That's the baby. I laughed out loud first time I saw a pic of that rascal, genius really. Used in on my son's 90 900S when I put the new clutch in for him. Now where did I leave those long bolts? I did have to lube the seal a bit as it kept cocking and refusing entry into the block....but I prevailed.
Regarding the long NOT running, my 91 TC engine just ran home 2 weeks ago (30 mile ride in 1st gear at 4K RPM....my autobox gave up the ghost). I will have to refresh myself with the head gasket change, as it has been 8 years since the last one. What is your opinion about new/used head bolts? I've never bought new for the 16V SAAB head. Never found any unusual bolt stretch in the 2 heads I re-gasketed.
Do you know if anyone has a thread on separation of the autobox from the block? I'll look in my Bentley, but don't recall much detail other than the bolt pattern/lengths. Both engines are sitting side by side, it's time to start the disassembly tonight. Can't wait to see how many exhaust studs snap off in the head! Liberal MAPP gas and hope they come out of the 91 head cleanly.
