That's an ingenious repair.
These are so much fun to drive - it would be a darned shame to let a bad PCV hose be the thing that kills one of 'em.
My '89 got a cobbled-together splice into the broken part of the line by the PCV fitting. It works, mostly. Who knows how much unmetered air it's letting in?
I'd bet that what I described was the designers' logic behind why they put the coolant line inside the PVC line - there are colder markets with faster drivers than in the US market. Avoiding warranty claims seems to have been a big item in design thinking (at least for the pre-GM SAAB engineers), especially when introducing a high speed turbo into the consumer market car.
A few years ago, somebody on the C900 board mentioned creating a new large PCV hose using oil-resistant hose. I'd love to see a pic that shows how they sealed the place that the metal coolant tube exits line at the end towards the firewall.
