Apologies for the lack of response to your email. Kicking myself now of course. Your advice might have saved the turbo!
I agree that that appears to be what has happened. When I put the engine back together I sprayed some carb cleaner through the feed pipe, but on further research it seems that’s not enough and it may have actually caused an issue. Eeuro has the pipe. I’ll look around for a better price though. (It’s 120 bucks)!
Ill get the turbo off the car and inspect the damage, it might not be repairable at this point. The noise it made was truly horrible.
I’ll also try and talk to the rebuilders, see what they can do. Failing that I have a T3 in the garage that looks to be salvageable.
