Got it off the car last night, the up and down play seems very excessive, not sure there’s been too much contact with the housing. I’ll let the specialists determine that though. I do notice a sticky glue like substance on the turbines and in the exhaust, suppose it’s the first signs of cooked oil. Seems like something got very hot anyway.
My secondary concern is the oil cooler and If the oil is getting too hot. I’m running 10w40 Castrol Dino in it right now and we’ve been having temps of between 80 and 100 on some days here. In car gauge reads well though. (1/3 to half way).
Is it good practice to take a look/clean out the oil cooler? Does it have a large controlling factor on an 87 or indeed any Saab turbo? (The car originally came with an oil only cooled turbo).
