I was told by Sully in a much earlier posting that you might give some info into this since he knew you had done the upgrade with an auto, and was still driving in it with no problems.
Now, you've got me nervous. I bought the car used with 42K on it, and the tranny had to be replaced soon after with a re-man'd (under warranty). The tranny now has 8K on it. The problem is that it has been back to the dealer 4 more times in 2 months because the shift-linkage-into-tranny-case seal keeps popping out, and causing floods of fluid on my garage floor. They can't seem to figure out why, even after contacting Saab Tech Help Line. The internal pressure is correct, and the shifter linkage is working properly. They feel that the hole might have been made a little too large. So Saab recommended that they use an anaerobic sealant (basically a glue) around the seal to keep it in place. They just did this on Monday (3/25). If it pops out again, they said they will have to replace the tranny again.
Will the upgrade now cause this seal to pop out due to increased internal pressure?
When you say that Saab limited the output of the Aero engine for the autos due to concern of reliability, are you assuming this to be true, or do you know for a fact that that is the reason? I know that some car companies do this because they feel that if they are going to put in a more powerful engine, most car-buyers will opt for the manual with that higher output, so they don't offer it with an auto, not so much about the reliability.
Also, if you did the exhaust swap, is there a big noise difference as compared to stock? Is it a louder noise, or a more deeper, throaty noise?
Did you deal with Maptun? If so, how do your feel about them?
What about the BPV? And the air filter box?
Have you noticed any degradation in fuel consumption? Currently, I am averaging 19.8 mpg (short 10-mile commute on parkway usually at 70 mph, no traffic, 5 miles on back-roads every weekday).
Thanks so much for your help!!!!
Joe
