I'm starting to look at this as the fact that I will spend $1500 to ruin my tranny and have to pay $3000 for another...
The reason the tranny needed replacement was due to the fact that it would "bang" into 2nd gear when shifting (and this was not at WOT). The dealer checked the tranny (supposedly), and determined there was internal damage and that it would need to be replaced. But as I have seen on this BB, it seems very quick for a shop to replace the tranny.
I'm not looking to enter this car in any races. I'm looking for it to perform very well, and ahead of many of the other cars here. I would like to be able to keep up and/or leave some of the Bimmer's and Benz's and Audi's in the dust that otherwise think because I'm driving a Saab, I'm settling for 2nd, even 3rd, -best. Plus, it's the golden rule that more hp/torque is more pleasure, whether you use it or not. Just knowing you have it is sometimes enough.
The exhaust that Maptun offered me is the complete system, including the performance cat. It comes with a hole for the O2 sensor as well. They said I will need nothing from my old system, and that the new one bolts right in. Hopefully this is true.
I wanted to use Swedish Dynamics since they are here in CT, and I live only 30 minutes from them. I figured I could run to them if I ever had problems. Unfortunately, they were more expensive ($850 for the ECU). So I saw Maptun all over this BB, and figured they must be good if people keep recommending them.
I need to find a line I can tell my wife to justify the money and that my car warrants this upgrade. Still working on that one.
