Doesn't prove that Mobil 1 is best...

A lot of car makers tell you to use a certain brand of whatever to put into or onto the car. I believe this to be because they have joint ventures with each other, much like reading a food recipe given by Kraft, and throughout it they put in BOLD letters to use Kraft/General Foods' products. And just because a lot of people use it does not make it the best out there. Many products are used because of word-of-mouth, without giving any consideration to another product which, in fact, might be just as good, if not better.
Much like buying the generic make of a prescription drug, they work the same as the brand names. The main active ingredient has to be in the same proportion for both.
So, if a quart of oil says it is "FULL SYNTHETIC" on the container, won't that be good enough for the engine, just as Mobil 1 is better than fossil? I understand each company has its own formula for producing the oil, but if I am changing the oil every 3K miles, won't any brand full-synthetic be just as good? And when I say any brand, I mean a recognized name, not some unknown company.
Please give any feedback--Thanks !
Joe
