The '91 and '92 were not better than the '93's - except maybe in
looks, but that's a very subjective thing. This car has 3 good
things going for it: a new clutch, new AC (compressor?), and
turbo. The other two repairs could still present problems. TCS
woes have been well documented here. If it gets unbearable
(read too expensive), then the best cure is to disable it by replacing
the throttle body with a used unit from a salvage yard. I'd be a
little concerned about the head gasket, too. I would ask for more
details on this from the original owner - did it really overheat,
did they check the head, did they shave the head and how much?
But it's silly to say that '91-'92 are better than '93's. One of the
reasons I find Saab so attractive is that they don't just change
designs every two years but refine things over the course of 10
or 12 years. I have two 9000's, at the moment: one a '92 and the
other a '94. As I mentioned earlier, the '92 CC is my preferred
style, but I couldn't honestly say that the '92 is better than the
'94.
