HI,
Last night I drove 50 miles (with Kyle in his car) to good ol Worcester, MA to visit my car.
We did the following.
0. Swapped oil pressure sensors with Kyle- Both my and his worked.
1. Drained the oil. The oil was filthy although the car only ran for a about 30 mins total after head gasket job
2. Cleaned the relief valve on the Timing cover
3. Changed the filter
4. After adding Modil 1 no pressure still.
5. Took off the valve cover and looked for oil coming out of the external oil lines. None. We were even so bold as to crank the car with the cover off and the oil lines off to see if ANY oil was going up to the Top of the engine. NONE WAS.
I could not get the oil pressure tester from anywhere, CAP,PEPbpys or Advanced Auto Parts. However this is what we came up with; The oil does not reach the sensor that is BEFORE the oil pump. I am not sure whether this is a sign of no suction (by the oil pump) or if the screen is fouled. BTW when draining oil we saw debree (peices of stuff ~.5 cm^2)so I don't know. I am thinking if Ari is right about the Oil pump then maybe the oil just is not getting sucked at all so I think I will try priming the oil pump next.
Are there any instuction for priming the pump and how could I have put it together wrong, I know that its facing the right way?
PS. Someone off this board has suggested that the head gasket was put on incorrectly. Namely they suggested that with some cars the gasket has to be customize in the sense that holes have to matched up by hand by poping out circles on the gasket. (A non Saab person said this) Another words, although the gasket that I got from Todd at Eeuroparts.com did fit, this person is saying that maybe I had to pop something out of the gasket to fit it to my 86. Is there any truth to that for SAABs?
