I have an '87 8kT which has 18mm bars all around. The car corner very flatly now. I installed the 17.5mm bushings, and while they are fine on the rear the seem to bind in the front. I also have experienced some spooky understeer since switching to poly which I assume is related to the stiffer front bar. I would recommend poly on back, fresh rubber on front, though perhaps if you bored them out to the correct diamter this problem wouldn't occur on the front.
Good luck
Craig
