Not only from what SteveB suggested, but also from speaking with Traffic Shark. He replaced his battery around 55K miles (was original, mine might be as well). Just before he replaced his, he started to have "limp-mode" home issues (ie.: radio cutting out, guages not working, basically the car would shut down any unnecessary functions to conserve energy). Just as I plugged the detector into the lighter the first time (when the first fuse blew), my in-dash CD player stopped working for a few seconds. I thought I had just hit a button or something. But, it probably was the start of the car going into "limp-mode" home.
Since he replaced the battery, he has not had anymore issues.
Great...so this is going to be one VERY EXPENSIVE battery!!!! You'd think it would be made of platinum for the price I'm going to pay...
Of course, why couldn't this have happened while the car was still in my driveway? I could have swapped batteries from my other car to test out my theory. Grrrrr............
