I haven't previously heard about the Hyperboost valve, but here are a couple of thoughts or three:
(1) The only way the Hyperboost can cause turbo lag, all things being equal, is if it's leaking pressure in some way (and is therefore faulty).
(2) Although you are surprised that your stock BPV is intact, I'm not, unless you have such obscene quantities of boost as to wreck your engine in the first place. I don't think these things are marginal components, though they can certainly leak or fail. After all, they work quite happily in an Aero with 225 bhp and I imagine you have 250 bhp, or 10% more.
(3) Suggestion: junk the Hyperboost, maybe get your money back, fit an up-to-date BPV such as is fitted to current Saabs, and see what happens. Then let us all know whether the sky has fallen.
