into the 20's when ambient conditions allowed (cool weather).
I would say 20 psi is the threshold for which diaphragm BPVs
are ok. Anything above that and you're living on borrowed time.
My boost peaks at 23 psi and yes, I have a larger IC. The BPV
doesn't function as a device to limit the amount of boost. That's
done by the Trionic and all the boost control elements (wastegate
actuator, BPC, etc). The BPV's function isn't just to attenuate lag.
It's also a device that protects the turbine/compressor/shaft
assembly from shock damage. Whenever your under boost
and shift to another gear, the throttle plate closes. You don't
want a pressure wave to build-up at the outlet end of the compressor,
as it'll not only cause lag, but could also destroy the shaft. The
BPV makes sure that the pressure gets routed to the inlet side
of the compressor (the low pressure side)
