Good analysis. I replaced the plugs right off the bat. The car was missing under high load on the 500 mile trip back from St Louis. Although the plugs were supposed to have been changed some 30 K miles previous, the gap was .065" - somebody's lyin'! Anyway, aside from the cavernous gap, the plugs looked fine. The car runs fine. The tailpipe is a bit black, but it has one of those stupid chrome extensions on it, with a rolled end, etc., etc. - bootom line is that I can't really get a good read from the pipe. Guess I'll take it to the dealer (Homer Simpson scream!) and let them do a pressure check while they're resetting that damned SRS light.
What do you expect to read on the O2 sensor with a DVM? I've heard that it should swing back and forth about once a second, in which case it sounds like you need some experience to interpret what you see.
