As Zeke said, I've got his old software package, and I've had quite a bit of trouble with gaps >0.9mm causing misfire at high boost levels. When I first encountered this the plugs were gapped at 1.1mm, barely in spec, and I set them down to 0.9mm, which worked fine at the time. After another two months passed I noticed some minor misfiring again, and checking the gap showed that they had grown to 0.96mm.
I then set them back to the minimum spec, which is 0.8mm. All is now well and I don't notice any performance change, though the misfiring is now gone. Quasi and I both think perhaps this DI cassette is weak and can't handle the higher gaps with high boost, and time will tell with that theory. If it pans out, I'll start getting the misfire at the present gap, at which time I'll have to replace the cassette.
Another observation: Last May when the ECU was first installed I was getting 20-23 psi of boost with 93-octant in the cooler weather, but later on as the temperatures elevated the boost dropped, often to "only" 16-17 psi. This surprised me a bit at first, but further thought made it clear what was happening. The 93-octane gas can't handle the high boost levels without detonating in the higher temps. Unfortunately, there is no normal retail outlet for higher octane gas in this area.
