Thanks for your post! Very interesting. I went back to my old notes and I noticed that all my previous experiments (0.8-1.0mm) were done with the old DI casette which failed afterwards by starting to misfire on one cylinder under high boost. My experiments were done using the AP22 accelerometer, using the g-force data, not any of the calculated stuff. With that DI the best results were attained with 0.95 mm gaps. Result repeatable for some degree of confindence.... smile.
Since then I've replaced the DI and I have to tell you that my butt dyno tells me that the 1.1 mm is by far the best. I've had no time test this with the AP22 yet. In addition, idle quality is significantly improved compared to the smaller gaps. Furthermore high gear / low rev operation is much smoother. I can pull in fifth from aroung 1600 rpm without any significant harsh noise / vibration which is evident while using the 0.95 gap.
My boost pressure peaks at around 1.3 bar @ 2500 rpm, is around 1.1 bar @ 3500 rpm and trails off to around 0.9-1.0 bar @4500 rpm.
The max boost level must have an effect in the optimum gap.
Does anyone know if the trionic needs to be (fuel)adapted after plug gap change? This take quite a bit driving and happens 15 min after stopping the car, if conditions require.
