The throttle body installed from factory on 94 and 95 is the same throttle body that is installed when updating/reparing a 92 and 93 year models.

P/N 9170705 ( you can read the partnumber on the black cover where wire harness is attached)

Under no circumstances can the throttle sensor be replaced, because it is non, (As for the interpretation of what a TPS sensor is).
The slide sensing devices is built into the motor assembly and cannot be replaced by itself by a DIY or a Saab tech. Certainly the manufacturer of that part can probably repair the motor/sensor/throttlebody if they wanted too.

I have yet had a 92-93 come back with a bad throttlebody that I updated, but most of them doesn't have as many miles on after update as for the 94-95 that had the same TB from factory. So it might be that even the latest TB on 94-95 start to fail now.

I have also not had a 94 or 95 in the shop with a bad TB, but that is mostly because not that many were sold with TCS compared to 92-93. Or it might be that the TB is so much better that it doesn't break as often as the 92-93 did.

Calibration is possible on all cars and have to be made in order for the system to work. The way to do it differs a little bit between automatic and manual trannys. And if the mechanic is not fully understanding how the TCS system works, he might not be able to calibrate and therefore states that it's not possible.

Saab have come out with a special book that handles all different problems with TCS. That book should be mandatory to have for every shop that think they can fix a TCS problem. I think the book was printed in around 95 and it mention all the different updated partnumbers on all the components together with all the different softwares in ECU's.

I can get the partnumber on that book tomorrow at work.

So back to your car, it could be the TB that start to go bad, even though I haven't replaced the new style one yet. But as you have found out by now, it's a whole bunch of people out there with different ides of how to fix a problem. Some knows what they are doing, and are willing to spend the time to fix the elusive TCS problems. BUT only if the customer is willing to pay for it.

This is only what I know right now and could change if someone give proof of something else, (not hearsaying from other sources, that doesn't impress me at all)
