Put an Omni-Magnum, along with Jacobs wires and the recommended Autolite plugs in my '88 9kt (258,000 miles) a little over a year ago. All else on car is stock. Played the gap game on the plugs (open up until you get misfire and then close up a bit) and wound up at .038.
End result, somewhat better throttle response, much better behavior after cold start in the morning, no noticable increase in MPG (according to dash computer).
Yesterday went out to the store and when I came out the car would not start. Luckily, I kept the original coil wire in the trunk. Bypassed the Jacobs and car fired right up. Looks like the Omni-Magnum has died. That figures, just after the warranty on the sucker expired.
Jacobs wants $32.50 plus "reasonable" repair costs to fix. Sounds pretty open ended to me. Here's my plan. Reduce plug gap to factory specs and keep driving. If I don't see a reduction in MPG, that confirms the Jacobs was not saving me any fuel. Not worth fixing for a little better throttle response the risk of another failure.
BTW, I'm keeping the wires. I think they're fine.
