Hi All,

first off I would like to thank you all - I have been lurking on this board for the better part of a year and have already found it an invaluable resource for keeping my 91 9kt on the road.

However I now have a problem that I cannot get my head around with my limited skills and searching the BB...

Symptoms:
1] Cold or hot starting has always taken more than a few seconds winding before ignition
2] Occasional stutter/hesitation when accelerating (appears worse on part throttle rather than full but even at high rpm you can feel the engine is less willing than normal). This problem has become worse over the last few days.
3] Engine sometimes stalls when taking off from a standstill especially after idling at traffic lights. Engine usually restarts fine after this but today it did require a pause of 20 seconds or so then a long time cranking the starter to restart. After restart engine sometimes sounds as tho it is barely catching eg sounds like it will stall. Stalling is always preceded by a stutter/hesitation at idle. Voltage drops only after the engine starts to stall. This problem started as very occasional (weeks between cases) but in the last few days has become much worse > which has done wonders for my prayer life...

Things already checked/changed: (by myself and/or local saab/volvo workshop)
1] no leaks in vacuum hoses
2] new sparkplugs (NGK BCPR 7 ES - the ones currently recommended on this BB)
3] new fuel filter (replaced not becuase I thought it was the problem but becuase it was due so why not). Car did run without trouble for a month after this but I suspect it to be more of a red herring than a real clue.
4] workshop gave engine a thorough check over but they could not get the problem to occur >:-( or find anything amiss. I asked them to check from air filter all the way to engine eg AMM, wastegate etc.
5] weather conditions appear to have no influence - hot/cold/wet/dry
6] need to refill coolant level every few months but I do not see steam in exhaust or anything in the oil so I suspect it is related to ACC (which also has no blower fan except on the odd morning when it runs at full blast for a minute then stops... but that is a whole other post, and many clues on this BB).

Possible other factors?:
1] When I first got the car it would cough and splutter very badly if given full throttle from a standstill when engine was cold. At the time I just made a mental note to not abuse the car this way.
2] I have been sold incorrect? plugs in the past (Bosch 6's) and ran them for about a year until I found this BB
3] I have been stuck on base boost only for sometime now - same boost level with or without BPC electrically connected. I haven't been able to borrow one for testing. BTW does it do any harm to run the engine with BPC electrically disconnected? I haven't been doing so except for testing. I have an MBC on order as an interim solution.
4] Catalytic converter started overheating so I had it cut out (perfectly legal here in NZ) and replaced with a resonator about a year ago.
5] Using K&N air filter (cleaned last month)
6] Car was imported from Japan
7] I always run 96 octane or better

So any ideas on how to get my swedish wench back into a reliable state? I miss her so...
