My 122 bhp, 2.1 litre Mercedes Vito van has the same torque, 300 Nm, between 1750 and 2500 rpm as my 200 bhp Saab. It also has automatic transmission, an electronic one that keeps the revs up at 4000 if you are heavy on the throttle. Quite fun to drive, actually, even if it does eat front tyres, and it does 33 mpg (Imperial) overall.
Howeever, it's not converted from a petrol engine which is where all this started.
Here's a thought for NT Moore - get an old Lancia Thema 8.32, convert the Ferrari V8 engine into a diesel, put that into an Aero... well, maybe not.
