Power upgrades and clutches

Bob Davis did a power upgrade (ECU & exhaust, + 35 HP) and is experiencing clutch slippage now. Seems that everyone is telling him to replace with "heavy duty" pressure plate and/or disc. Does anyone think that new stock clutch components can handle 260 HP or so? I would think so. Specifically, has anyone tried stock clutch parts on a juiced engine?
The only experience I have along this line is when I chipped a turbo Toyota Supra to increase the boost 50% or so. The clutch started slipping shortly thereafter. I replaced the disc, pressure plate and release bearing with stock parts and it never slipped again in the subsequent 50 tp 60 K miles that I owned the car (the clutch was still fine when I sold it).
