I suggest flushing the sump from oil level sensor port

If you remove the oil level sensor at the front of the sump, you can flush the bottom of the pan by pumping oil in the front and draining it out the back through the regular port. It helps to use a heated oil flushing agent such as BP to help dissolve any build-up. you can use a flexible hose to get inside the sump. This is much easier than dropping the pan.
It is also not a bad idea to remove the valve cover and take a look. Sludge is less likely to collect up there, but you will get an idea about build-up. I sucked out all of the residual oil from up there and cleaned away deposits on the surfaces that I could access. Be sure to replace the oil up there before closing up the valve cover. This will help at start-up.
I followed this procedure while switching the 91 9k that I bought used with 100k miles from unknown oil to Mobil 1 10W30. I also ran for about 1000 miles with semi-synthetic Mobil Oil with extra cleaning agents before switching to full synthetic.
Any comments?
