Yup, probably right. After the honeymoon, the work starts, and the honeymoon ends at 50K miles, whatever the car.
Drop the pan and use the contents thereof as a diagnostic tool as to the health of the rest of the engine. Keep a goodly supply of sump gaskets available. You will need them, but they are cheaper than trying to re-build your engine.
