Your comments are helpful and consistent with my experience.
The car has a healthy crank speed and always fires right up, so I probably shouldn't stress about the battery (replaced, not original equip). But the dimming while driving is of more concern.
On my 88, lights dimmed when high current devices kicked in. But I only noticed this when it was idling. The 97's dimming is at freeway speeds, and the voltage level sometimes falls into the 12's while driving. Should I care or just keep my eye on this? If the voltage regulator is croaking, will it get progressively worse or just die (i.e. leave me hanging) some day?
Thanks for your comments.
John
