When mine failed it was heat related.

Engined cooled in 10 minutes and it would run for a short time. City Stop/Go driving. Turned out to be CPS and was intermittent still, hadn't failed totally. The old one is a Honeywell Microswitch Hall Effect Interrupter unit. Not in production any longer so that fried my hopes at a $15.00 rebuild of a $225 part. It is an electronic component with a magnet mounted next to it, the rotating chopper wheel fits in the space between these two parts, does the interrupting and gives reference to the ECU for position reference.
