Cylinder head woes update

I just went out to recheck a couple of things on my '87 9000T and found the coolant is simply leaking out between the head and block. I was checking the head bolts to make sure I had really torqued all of them (I was certain, it was just one of those self-doubts I had to put to rest) and I topped up the coolant only to find it was draining out. Since I couldn't see where it was coming from I felt around the rear of the engine and lo and behold it was coming right from where the head and block meet. No seal whatsoever.
So, since I know this head could also use some cam followers along with spark plug hole repair (expensive since it will have to be welded) and whatever else it may need I am seriously looking at an engine I've found for $525 including shipping.
I've talked to the place that has it and it sounds like a good deal. It has 111K miles on it, compression is 160, and the oil pressure at idle is 50psi. My only question concerns the compression. I saw a recent post where a couple of guys gave their compression as 180. In my experience 160 is good as long as there isn't significant variance between cylinders. Thoughts?

new tires, recent rear wheel well weld, good shocks, just too much to simply let it go (plus no money to get something else right now)
