Turbo Bypass Valve woes

Its a 88 9000 Turbo 5spd.
I've posted before about a high idle, an erratic idle and a tendency for the car to stall (almost) when pressing the clutch in for shifts and such.
Most of that was cured this last weekend after replacing the TPS and the Bypass Valve which was shot. The idle is still a little jumpy (+-100) or so. Not as bad as before. The BPV was a new stock unit.
So its now 5 days since and the new valve is shot again! Sucking on the vaccuum tube leading to it offers no resistance anymore. It was fine the beginning on the week.
The guy I just bought the car from has an aftermarket APC chip. He says that the boost will now build up to 14-15psi. When the BPV was good in the beginning of the week, the boost would build up to the middle of the red part of the guage - so he's probably right there.
But my worry is now about the BPV. Can the stock one take those kinds of pressures? Do I need a different part? Perhaps one built for higher boosts? Any help would be appreciated since the idle problems etc. are starting to show up again (vaccuum leak again).
Thanks,
Karthik
