Lots of things in this life are dangerous - but one good
way to defuse this sort of risk is education, and as I
understand it - that is why we all post here, right ?
Back to the subject of A/C systems - I have worked with
A/C systems for close to 2 decades, and have NEVER had
ANYTHING blow up in my face - but I am not an idiot
either, and treat pressure handling devices with respect.
Many times, if someone is foolish enough to overcharge
an auto A/C system, the compressor will simply cease to
move - which can burn belt(s) and/or the A/C clutch -
but usually, unless the connections are weakened for
some strange reason - they are always WAY over spec,
and I have never seen one blow apart (yet...).
There are always people who say that things are
REALLY DANGEROUS - and in my experience, these people
have some other reason for their advice - like they are
either afraid of everything, or they have some kind of
"professional license" that makes them an 'expert', and
they wish to protect their income stream.
(You can burn down your house by changing an electrical
outlet - but how many people do you know that HAVE had
their house burn down this way ??)
