Temporarily, you can disable this circuit by removing fuse 9 (on my 1993 car, anyway - this also cuts the sunroof and some other stuff). In a spirit of experimentation, I have done this a few times but to be honest, I don't think it makes the car much faster in real-world terms: mind you, I have a JT 3" downpipe/cat/exhaust which does add some oommph.
If you like this effect, do a search for "fuse 9" and you will reach a thread in (I think) August 2001 which does this subject more or less to death. I think zeke said pin 14 on the ECU was the relevant wire but please CHECK FIRST before you nuke your ECU!
